Joys of Blogging
In this short article, I want to share with you how you can develop a joy for blogging and why it will be important in your home based business.
If blogging is new to you, it’s simply a platform where you can talk about anything you like.
The term Blog came from “web log”, or a daily diary.
Blogs are interactive as people can leave comments, their own thoughts and opinions and they can share it with others. This is the big difference between a blog and a website. A website is a one-sided conversation where people go and read what you have to say but can’t contribute to the conversation in anyway.
For home based business owners your blog will be your “home” in cyberspace. People can come by your “online home” (your blog) and learn more about you and what you have to offer.
I recommend you create an “about me” page or in my case I chose “Meet Debbie”.
They can learn about your hobbies, your family, your favorite sports team, things that are important to you and your purpose for blogging.
Why would they care and why should you care?
Because it’s their only opportunity to get to know, like and trust you. People want to do business with those they know, like and trust.
By creating those pages and providing that information, it gives them a feel for who you are and what you’re about. You can see how I formatted mine here.
Moving on from here, your blog is a place for you to talk about all aspects of your business. On your business blog, you can load it full of valuable content pertaining just to your business and industry and even ranking in the search engines on topics you’re blogging about.
I have found that I really enjoy blogging. It’s a place where I can express my thoughts, my goals, my opinions and really make it my own.
What do I blog about?
- When I read personal development book, I can blog (write) about my “take aways” and “ah ha” moments.
- When I learn a marketing technique, I can share what I’ve learned on my blog.
- When I attend an event in my industry niche, I can blog about my experiences.
- When I have an experience in business, a lesson learned, a knowledge gained, I can blog about that.
- I offer tips on how to be successful in a home based business based on past experiences.
My favorite time to blog is when it’s quiet with a cup of tea. (English Breakfast, cream and sugar). Blogs are a great way to preserve knowledge you gain, stories you want to share and remember and documenting your journey.
I always think of that movie Julie and Julia and how her blog made all the difference. It’s a fun movie to watch and pay attention to her blogging style. She’s just being herself and documenting her journey.
I’ve heard many people say they can’t write. It’s more about sharing your heart and running it through spell check.
Give it a try.
Share your journey.
If you found value in this, please share and leave me a comment. I love to hear from you!
