Power Point Presentations: 5 Reasons To Use Power Points

powerpointpicture2Power Power Presentations offer so much to the home based business entrepreneur.  The more I use them, the more I appreciate the value they offer to my viewers.

By reading this post, you will be able to see how incorporating them into your marketing can make a difference in your business.

I’ve also prepared a power point presentation for you plus provided the written word so you can experience the benefits of hearing and seeing while I’m talking.

Here are my top 5 reasons for using power point presentations.

1.  It’s a nice professional way to present your materials

Power Points are common in brick and mortar business but not among home based entrepreneurs.  Using power point presentations is one way to stand out from the crowd.  You will come across not only as doing something different than the rest, but also as a leader and someone who’s more serious about their business.

2.  They Helps you Keep Organized with your Thoughts and Ideas

There’s nothing worse than forgetting a key point to your presentation after the fact.  By having all your key points and thoughts built within the power point presentation, this is highly unlikely and you’ll be able to feel good about your content and delivery.  So basically, it helps you to stay focused on topic.

Additionally, because you have a guideline to work within, you won’t be rambling on too much past the scheduled time.  Again, the presentation keeps moving along.

I especially love this strategy for new home business owners.  It’s a beautiful way to help the new entrepreneur have a professional front without having to come out in front of the camera for teaching and instructions.  They feel less intimidated and nervous.  They can record these and retake as many times as they like to get their presentation how they want it.

3. They Offer Diversification in your Video Marketing and Teaching Style

As people come across your videos, they will enjoy experiencing a variety of teaching styles.

Head shots – you just talking in the frame
Action shots – you are walking, driving, interacting with someone else such as an interview
Screen capture – recording what’s on your computer screen.
Power Points – slide show presentations

Giving your viewers a variety makes you a more interesting person to follow and keeps them lingering longer at your video hosting site.

4.  Use them to Teach and Illustrate your Concept, Strategy, Etc.

Power Points are great for teaching.  Many people are visual learners and they will benefit from seeing as well as hearing.

For example, if you are simply telling someone about internet marketing automation and you are sharing that a good ad leads to a good opt-in page and that leads to a good website which leads to a good email follow up campaign and ultimately takes them back to your website….. whew!

How much of that will they grasp?  Now,  let’s illustrate and see if this isn’t better.  What if I prepared a slide show to illustrate the flow of internet marketing automation and showed them this?

5.  It Helps Keep the Focus of your Audience

If you could SEE AND HEAR what someone was communicating, not only would you understand better, but it would also keep your attention longer.

You can add various media to your power point presentations to make them more interesting.

  • Video
  • Pictures
  • Music
  • Animation
  • Colors
  • Charts
  • Arrows, graphic, clip art

I would encourage you to experiment with power points.  I use Microsoft Office and within that suite of tools is the power point software.  I have created a series of “how to” using power point for you to quickly get up and running.  I’ll be posting those here on the blog.

What has been your experience with power points?  How are you using them?  Please share!  I’d love to hear from you and share ideas here.  Thanks much… Debbie

    Hi Debbie,
Really nice concise explanation of why to use PowerPoint. I use it in presentations to groups but hadn’t thought to use it online. I’m thinking I can use it in my blogs sometimes as well. I’m not yet into the videos but hope to learn about that soon.

    Thanks again,

Thanks for posting this. I definitely see a big change in traffic when I post dynamic content rather than just plain text. So far, my videos get the most interaction. But I'm sure Powerpoint embedded on a blog with interesting subject matter would enjoy more traffic also.
It's important to get the design aspect of slides right, just as much as content. A boring and poorly organized presentation might actually keep people from coming back for me.
