Facebook – Set Up a Facebook Fan Page to Drive Traffic to Your Website

facebooklogojpegIf you really want to promote your business on Facebook, you need to set up a fan page.  Unlike your personal account on this website, your fan page is public information.  Anyone can access the page and it can even be found by popular search engines.  It is free to set up your page and it is great advertising for your business.

When you set up your new page be sure to include as much information about your company as you can.  Add your company logo, bring in feeds to your blogs, add links to your webpage, connect to your twitter updates, and add links to your other social media pages such as LinkedIn and MySpace.  Find some fun Facebook applications to add on to your page.  This will entice your new fans to stick around your page for a while and hopefully look through the page more thoroughly.  You also want to allow your users to interact with your page by letting them leave comments or perhaps by answering a question of the day.

Once you have your page set up and published, your next step is to get some fans.  This is where building an extensive network of friends comes in handy.  Send invitations through your Facebook account to any one of your connections that you think might help you out and become a fan of your new page.  Describe what is on your page and how you believe it can be of use to your friends.  Add a link to the fan page in your message. Hopefully, your fan page will then continue to attract more notice as it shows up in the feeds of your friends’ accounts.

Are you the more aggressive, bolder, out of the box thinker kind of business owner?  To help get the word about your Facebook fan page out in this website’s larger community, you may try hosting a contest or a giveaway.  Doing something small, like an offer to send out a free pen and notepad to the next 50 fans will generate quite a bit of interest in your fan page.  It is amazing how that word free can draw people in to your page.  Of course, you may try something a little grander; say winning a weekend away, for writing an essay about a topic relating to your business.  You can really get creative with the different ways to attract new traffic to your fan page and ultimately drive up the visits to your business’s website.
