Do This And Your Customers Will Go Somewhere Else
If you’re in the network marketing or MLM (Multi Level Marketing) space, this is a ‘MUST READ’ article.
Training inside of these business structures is so thick with the message of “get your prospect to a presentation” that it’s sickening. The human connection of listening and serving has been replaced with “company training protol”.
I say, treat others the way you want to be treated and serve your prospects as quickly as possible giving them exactly what they want.
This should not be hard!
Simply let the prospect (in this case a customer) tell YOU what THEY want and GIVE it to THEM!
So imagine this.
You walk into a department store to buy vitamins.
You ask the clerk where the B Complex vitamins are.
The clerk responds with a question, “would you be available at 7 pm tonight to watch a presentation?
You look confused. Did the clerk even hear what you said? You’re looking for vitamins.
You tell the clerk, “I’m not interested in a business presentation. I’m interested in purchasing a B Complex vitamin. Please tell me where they are so I can make my purchase and be about my day.
The clerk then walks away and has nothing further to say. You will ONLY be offered a link to register and watch the business presentation.
Guess what?
I don’t know about you but I’m outta there!
So this just happened to me in the home based business arena last week. I would never name names so ID has been protected. I will call this person Clerk.
I connected with Clerk because she had gotten tremendous results using product for her diabetes health and my best friend is struggling with his A1c being at 12. I asked her what she was doing to bring hers down.
CLERK: There is an online shopping club I belong to where I get my supplements, fiber, and low glycemic shake which helped me cut my A1c from 10.5 in Jan 2017 to 5.8 in Jan 2018. Would you be open to taking a look to see what it’s all about?
ME: Yes, Please. (When she said “would you be open to taking a look to see what it’s all about, I suspected that it was a home based business but wasn’t sure. Perhaps it was just about the shake, fiber and supplements and I would be getting health related info. So I continued the conversation. After all, I AM actively seeking a solution to my problem of lower A1c’s for my friend).
CLERK: “Name protected” shared this with me and it literally saved my life….we have a live overview tonight at 6PM EDT….can you make that?
ME: Yes.
ME: Is there a replay of a previous one?
CLERK: Actually they don’t do replays but they have multiple live overviews throughout the day – this is the only one available for today…
ACTION STEP CLERK: I’m thinking, “dang, I want to buy NOW. Now I have to wait until tonight to find out more about this magic, life saving trio… I wait for the link…She sends it.
ACTION STEP ME: I click on the link to register and the topic is how to be debt free. As soon as I see the description of the webinar, I’ve now confirmed, it’s a business opp. My suspicions are confirmed and I’m not interested. I let her know again what I want politely.
ME: I wouldn’t be interested in the business, but if you can send me your shake info I’d like to see that. I’ve been in home business since 07 and do very well. I’d really appreciate that.
CLERK: I can see she read my message on Facebook but… crickets. She stopped communicating with me. End of conversation!
ACTION STEP ME: I registered for the webinar just to get the name of the company because I wanted to buy this shake!
I was on time and joined the webinar. I DIDN’T LIKE having my first and last name announced by the host that I was on the line! Another “ugh” Oh Lord, really?
Could I buy after I watched the business webinar?
I was curious to see if she would reach back to me after I attended the webinar. I’ve waited 4 days. Nothing.
Still crickets.
I was actually shocked. This lady in my eyes was a leader, she’s on the ball, she’s helpful, I like her a lot! That’s why I reached out to her!
Here I was, a buyer with credit card in hand ready to spend whatever amount of money I needed to just to buy these products, but two things happened.
- I wasn’t allowed to buy until and unless I watched the business presentation.
- I wasn’t followed up with to see if I would like to join the online buyers club and make my purchase.
- I wasn’t provided with her personal link to join the club.
Ummm… I have no words.
Here’s what I know for sure. If you do this in your business, your customers will go somewhere else to get what they want which is exactly what I’m doing.
I now know what the name of the company is and trust me, there will be a distributor who would be happy to send me their link to join the club and receive my order. And I won’t be forced to watch a business presentation!
This will be interesting.
I’m going to start reaching out to distributors who are actively growing their business with this company and see how many times I have to watch a business presentation before I find someone who will JUST GIVE ME WHAT I WANT. I will not buy from anyone who does not serve my initial request.
I’m seeking someone who is interested in listening to my needs and giving me what I want. Don’t you expect that from any store you shop at?
That will be interesting, eh?
Here’s the bottom line business tip.
When someone has set their intentions on buying from you, send them your link and let them buy!
Millions and millions of people just want to be a customer! Like me!
They have no desire or intention of referring others or starting a home based business with your particular product.
I think in the home based business arena, the “CLERKS” take on this assumption that everyone in the world wants to make a side or full income and start a home based business.
That’s not true!
Millions of people know that some of the best products on the market are sold through that industry and just want to be consumers.
Listen to your customers and give them what they want. Build up your customer base as that’s your life long residual income. Love your customers, take care of them, check on them, and build that relationship.
Okay, I’m off to find someone who will take my credit card and sell me some stuff so I can be like this happy girl and feeling all good cuz I got to buy what I wanted!
